PEMBROKE LAKES GOLF AND RACQUET CLUB
LOCAL RULES:
All play at the Club governed by the USGA rules of golf and the following Local Rules:
1. EMBEDDED BALL RULE APPLIES THROUGH THE GREEN.
Otherwise, the ball is to be played as it lies.
2. WATER HAZARDS: All water hazards are lateral [defined by red lines and fence on left side of holes 3, 4 & 6]. A ball crossing over any perimeter canal [left of holes 3,4,5,6,11] shall be deemed “in the hazard” regardless of where it comes to rest. Hole #4 provides a drop circle for a ball hit into any water hazard. In the absence of a hazard line, the hazard edge is deemed to be the point where the ground begins to slope down. A provisional ball may be used on holes 4, 12, 13 to speed play; you may play either ball, but if you choose the original, and it is in the hazard, it must be played as it lies, no relief allowed.
3. OUT OF BOUNDS: Defined by the boundary fences surrounding the property (right of holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 9; left of holes 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18.). A ball that lies completely beyond the “inside edge” of the fence is deemed OB. The “inside edge” is defined by the rails or chainlink if they are on the course side of the posts. The “inside edge” is defined by the posts if they are on the course side of the rails or chainlink. If the ball is deemed inbounds, the player may not take relief from the boundary fence.
4. OBSTRUCTIONS:FREE RELIEF provided if interference for stance and swing:
STAKED TREES
NEWLY SODDED AREAS AND GROUND UNDER REPAIR:
These areas should be defined by white painted lines. In the event there is no line, play the ball as it lies. If the player believes the area should have been marked, play 2 balls and get a ruling after the round. MGA members should get a ruling from the MGA Rules Committee.
FENCES DEFINING LATERAL HAZARDS [#3, #4, #6]: Relief provided when ball lies outsideof the hazard and the fence interferes with stance or swing.
SPRINKLER HEADS: Relief from heads in closely mown areas around greens for line of play provided that [a] the head lies within 2 club lengths of the green and [b] the ball lies within 2 club lengths of the sprinkler head.
PUMP STATION [#6]: Relief provided if there is interference with stance or swing. Additional relief provided for line of play. You may keep the spot where the ball came to rest between you and hole and drop back on that line as far back as you wish.
SPRINKLER CONTROLS [#16]; FOUNTAIN CONTROLS [#2,#6,#12]: Additional relief provided for line of play. You may keep the spot where the ball came to rest between you and hole and drop back on that line as far back as you wish.
5. ROCKS IN BUNKERS: Redefined as ‘movable obstructions.” Rocks may be lifted and removed but in so doing, if the ball is moved the player is subject to penalty. If the ball lies on, or is touching a rock, either play the ball as it lies, or lift the ball, remove the rock and then DROP the ball as near as possible to its original location.
6. AERATION HOLE: On the PUTTING GREEN, a ball coming to rest in/on an aeration hole may be placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole that avoids the situation.
7. LIFT, CLEAN AN PLACE: In normal playing conditions lift clean and place in your own fairway. If the whole course is specified "Cart Path Only" you may lift, clean and place your ball on all holes "through the green". If only individual holes are “Cart Path Only, you may lift, clean and place your ball on those holes only "through the green. "Through the green" means anywhere except greens, bunkers and hazards. When you lift, clean and place, mark the position of your ball, lift it and clean it, then place it within one scorecard length of the original location, no closer to the hole and in the same general area where the ball came to rest. The ball cannot be moved from the general area where it came to rest to another general area. For example, the ball cannot be moved from the rough to the fairway or the ball cannot be moved from coquina to grass. These are only examples and apply to all playing areas. The rule is not limited to the aforementioned examples.
8. BALL ACIDENTALLY MOVED ON PUTTING GREEN: When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.
